Property For Sale - Big, Affordable, Beautiful & by the Beach

Hello, I made a video of a sweet piece of property.

I like this property.  It feels like your own little world.

It set back and removed from the main road.   Yet it is still close to neighbors.

And best of all, it is only 70 feet from the beach.

Check it out.

You could build whatever you like here.  It is level and fully accessible.  As the video suggests, you could build 2-3 homes or a hotel.  You could also keep the whole thing to yourself.

The property is in the Corazon de Jesus neighborhood of Puerto Armuelles.  It is a friendly community right on the beach.

It is an area popular with expats.  All the beachfront in the neighborhood has already been bought up by expats.

You can browse more property for sale in Puerto Armuelles here.

Puerto Armuelles is an increasing popular place for both expat retirees and investors. This is due, in part, to the near completion of the new 4 lane highway linking Puerto Armuelles to the Panama's InterAmericana main highway. The improved access has allowed many more people to discover the many charms of this wonderful beach town.

People sometimes ask if the expats get together here in Puerto Armuelles.

They do.

Currently, the only regularly scheduled event is Sunday afternoon horseshoes at the Tsunami Inn.

You don't need to actually play horseshoes to go.  Some people, like me, go to socialize. However, players are very welcome.

And other expat get togethers just seem to happen.

Corazon de Jesus BBQ

For instance, on President's Day, we had a get together in Corazon de Jesus (see photos).

In this case, my husband, Reyn, initiated the get together.

Recently, a number of Americans and Canadians have been renting places in the Corazon de Jesus neighborhood.  They said they they were interested in meeting people.

Reyn talks with long-time local expat, Gilbert, a french Canadian, and others.

Reyn wanted to help them out.

He asked expats living on the beach there if they'd like to come to a BBQ potluck.

Most people loved the idea.

Lauren and Janet even volunteered the beach front house they are renting.

Thru word of mouth and emails, what was talked about on Friday, quickly became reality on Monday.

A potluck BBQ was born.

All sorts of folks came, both visitors and resident expats.  It was a fun event.

2 middle aged men, one sitting and one standing, chatting.
People enjoyed the get together

In fact, I keep hearing from people up and down the beach who say, they wished they could have made it.

I didn't think to take any photos until we were leaving.   It was getting dark then, so the photos aren't the best.

Future Get Togethers?

I know quite a few people here who would come to regularly scheduled events. We only need someone to organize more of them.

Perhaps a Wednesday lunch or dinner at Milton's Heavenly Hotel?  It has A/C!

All it takes is for someone to post it to the forum and/or email the first few times, and then it would take off.

Who is up for it?

I recently realized that I never mention one reason I love Panama.

The birds! And living close to nature.

To help celebrate I made this very brief (22 secs) video of some Cherrie's Tanagers.

All sorts of Tanagers are very common in our yard.
These Cherrie's Tanagers were in the palm tree next to my office window.

[leadplayer_vid id="56C8F29D20239"]

I get constant delight out of the bird life in Panama.

  • Daily I hear flocks of parrots fly overhead.
  • We hear, what we consider our owl, hooting in the evening.
  • Dozens of blue-grey and yellow tanagers hang out in our yard every day
  • Toucans visit when we have ripe papayas on our trees.
  • Pygmy owls are both seen and heard sometimes.

And so many other birds.  I live much closer to nature here than I did in the States.

It isn't just birds.  I watch iguanas from my living room, I see numerous toads, and a wide array of interesting looking caterpillars, butterflies, moths, and more.

Of and I cannot forget to mention geckos.  They are nature in your house!  I love watching them - plus they eat insects.  I will have to do a video on them in the future.

I love living in nature here in Panama.

Do you have any thoughts to add on this topic?

A number of folks have impatiently asked me,

"When are going to put your Corazon de Oro properties on the market?"

The answer is very soon.   In a matter of a few months.

Currently we are building an entry way to the property.

To give you a preview, I put together a short video on one of the beachfront lots.

[leadplayer_vid id="56BC19C3DBA06"]

Walking out there, I am reminded just how beautiful a spot it is in.

I'll let you know when you can actually buy one.  It will be fairly soon.

We are currently building an entry gate.

Find out more about these 19 lots, 9 of which are beach front, here.

white bus parked in front of hotel, Pension Balboa
A tolerable hotel for a night or two

Pension Balboa is a dive.

However, if you are an experienced traveler used to 3rd world accommodations, then it is fine.

For most tourists, I really cannot recommend it.

About

It is on the 2nd story of a commercial building.   There is a bar, a pool hall, a small grocery store, and the hotel owner's residence underneath it.

An open air walkway circles the hotel.  That is the most pleasant part of the hotel.  If it were nicer, this balcony/walkway would be a wonderful place to watch the ocean and enjoy its breeze.

The staff are friendly and will change your sheets and clean your room every other day.

About 8 years ago, my family and I stayed here - twice.  The old woman and her husband who ran it were delightful.  But the beds were terrible. I mean truly awful.  The bed sagged radically in the middle as soon as we laid down. It was as if the mattress was tucking us into a mattress sandwich.

Overall, though it was fine.  Although, if the Heavenly's Hotel or Tsunami Inn had been available then, we would have stayed there.

Location

It is in a great spot in downtown Puerto Armuelles.  It is near the waterfront park, the bus station, and restaurants.

Although, it is right above a bar, I don't remember noise from the bar being an issue while we stayed there.

swimming pool and gazebo at Tsunami Inn
Take a refreshing dip in the pool

The Tsunami Inn is a small expat-owned hotel.

Tsunami Inn is located in the San Vicente neighborhood of Puerto Armuelles.

It is across a quiet dirt road from the beach.

About

This hotel is centered around its pool and central "hang out" gazebo (see photo). You can stay in one of its  6 colorful cabanas. They are small, but an adequate size.

The front cabins, pool and gazebo face the ocean.

Note: Some guests who have stayed here have told us that it appears the owners have a financial arrangement with 2 local real estate people. After you arrive, don't be surprised if one of these 2 "realtors" shows up.  I advise taking your time.

Horseshoes

You can play horseshoes here.  They have a regulation horseshoe pit set up right by the swimming pool. One of the owners, Scott, is a champion horseshoe player.  On most Sunday afternoons they have a horseshoe game for hotel guests and locals.
