It's not hard. You need a good lawyer to make it faster and easier.

So you bought ROP property, and now you want to title it.

No worries.

You must complete a number of steps. But none of them are difficult.

For info on buying ROP property, see this link.

2 Processes For Titling

You will follow 1 of 2 titling processes, depending if the title to the ROP land is officially held by the national versus a local government .

1. The National Process. If the title to your ROP land is held by the national (federal) Panamanian Government, follow the National process.

2. The Municipal Process. If the title to your ROP land is held by a municipal government, follow the Municipal process . A municipal government is any non-federal government. That is, a city, village, etc.

The municipal titling process is easier and cheaper than the national one.   Both processes are described in our free titling guide below.

I have written a free and easy to follow guide, "How To Title ROP Panama Real Estate"

The guide describes the process and documents you will need to title land using either process.

For those with ROP property in the town of Puerto Armuelles, the guide includes specific titling fees for ROP land located in its more popular neighborhoods.

Keep in mind that when you decide to title your land, you are also deciding to pay taxes.

  • Titled land must pay an annual property taxes. Property valued at under $30,000 are exempt.
  • However, your property may be eligible for the 20 year property tax exemption. More on that in a future post.
