UPDATED: April 22, 2020
Panama had initially closed its airports on March 23rd for 30 days (until April 21).
The travel ban now has been extended until May 23rd.
Only humanitarian flights are allowed.
(If you do enter Panama, you must self-quarantine for 14 days.)
Copa & Air Panama
If you have a Copa or Air Panama flight scheduled between April 22nd and May 23rd, you should contact the airline to reschedule. Copa has information specifically about making flight changes because of this restriction, here.
Quarantine & Coronavirus Status
The government of Panama has imposed a strict quarantine. The good news is that it has been effective. The quarantine is likely to be lifted slowly starting in early May.
Given that, this May 23rd reopening of Panama’s airports, seems realistic.

Hello,
a few days ago I left a message asking if anyone could tell me why we couldn’t get into Panama on March 16th. Our flight was scheduled to arrive in Panama City around 2 or 3pm and around 5pm in David. But when we arrive in the Bahamas for a plane transfer, we are told that the borders of Panama are closed. That could confirm to me that this was really the case or if we had bad information from Copa Airlines. Thank you in advance for your answers!
